Print Registration

Registration control across an extensive array of packaging materials.

Application examples

Printed material has to arrive at the correct position, in the right orientation, at line speed, every cycle. Registration of this material is key, to ensure the product is visually consistent and accurate.

  • Polypropylene
  • Aluminium foil
  • Paper
  • Rod and tipping papers
  • Inner liner
  • Inner frame
  • Packet wrap
  • Overwrap
  • Continuous web

The control problem

Registration error accumulates from several independent sources: web tension variation, roller eccentricity, material stretch, thermal growth and splice discrepancies.

Our approach combines print mark detection with closed-loop correction on the drive, tuned against the specific material and line speed rather than against a generic default. If required, additional vision inspection can be integrated to verify the result and reject out-of-tolerance product rather than relying on the correction loop alone.

Registration work is closely tied to Web Handling and Packing, and the two are usually specified together.
