Laser

CO2, fibre and ultraviolet laser processing for ventilation holes, perforation slits and profiling.

Laser processing

Laser processing creates features without touching the product. There is no tool to wear, no mechanical force on the component, and the pattern is defined in software rather than in tooling, so a format change is a settings change rather than a strip-down.

Presentation

Although the laser hardware itself is specialised, presenting the product accurately and repeatably at production speed requires precision engineering; that includes web handling, product handling and registration all working to the tolerance the laser requires. For new machinery we design around the process but can also integrate and retrofit laser hardware to existing equipment.

Sources

Different materials and features call for different laser sources, specifying the correct one is critical in achieving the desired result. We can test your materials to identify the required laser source, most suitable setup and achievable processing speeds.

CO2: the standard for organic materials, papers and films.

Fibre: metals and high-precision marking work.

Ultraviolet: cold processing for heat-sensitive materials where thermal damage at the cut edge is unacceptable.

Applications

We can laser cylindrical rods around the complete circumference, continuous webs or individually fed sheets.

  • Ventilation holes
  • Perforation slits
  • Profiling
  • Etching and marking
